Common problem species in the Houston region include hydrilla, giant salvinia, water hyacinth, duckweed, and cattail along shorelines. Filamentous algae and cyanobacteria blooms are also frequent during the warm months, particularly in nutrient-rich stormwater ponds. We identify the specific species present before recommending a chemical-free or treatment-based approach.
