Giant Salvinia

Giant Salvinia

(Salvinia molesta)

Native to South America, giant salvinia is a free-floating aquatic plant with oblong leaves ½-1½ inches long. It forms mats on the water surface, limiting oxygen transfer and degrading water quality. Once established, it can be very difficult to control. Early detection and management are essential to prevent excessive spread and maintain a balanced aquatic ecosystem.
